Summary of this volume: The 3rd AUN/SEED-NET Regional Conference on Energy Engineering (RCEnE) continues an annual event that began in 2013 to provide a global platform to bring together researchers, scientists, academics, policy makers, and professionals to exchange information and identify research needs in the various areas of energy engineering. The 7th International Conference on Thermofluids (THERMOFLUID), which began in 2009, is the latest in a series of conferences focusing on the fields of fluid and thermal engineering and sciences. Conjoining these two conferences created a forum for the sharing of a wealth of information in both fundamental and applied sciences. RCENE/THERMOFLUID 2015 provided a unique gathering of interdisciplinary researchers from different countries and communities to exchange ideas and devise novel solutions and concepts. The topics covered included aerospace and automotive engineering; renewable energy and biofuels; fluid dynamics and fluid structure interaction; energy harvesting systems and energy management; and phase change and heat and mass transfer. The range of studies presented reflected the current state and concerns regarding energy efficiency, alternate energy sources, and fundamental studies involved in energy processes, which are summed up in the theme of this joint conference: “The Development of Energy Sustaining and Energy Efficient Technologies for a Sustainable Future.”

These proceedings will be of interest to: Researchers from the graduate student level to postdoc level in the fields of energy engineering, fluids, and thermal science, in particular with regard to the topics of alternative fuel research and multiphase flows.
