Summary of this volume: The 11th International Conference on Open Magnetic Systems for Plasma Confinement continues a series of events that began in 1993. A wide range of subjects related to linear traps for fusion are traditionally presented at these conferences. Open systems cover topics including plasma confinement, heating, and stability; transport phenomena; plasma-wall interactions; plasma diagnostics; applications of mirror plasmas; and prospects of mirror-based reactors and neutron sources. The main objective of the conference was to serve as a review of the development of open plasma confinement systems as well as prospects for the linear fusion reactor. The rate of progress in open traps and FRCs research has risen significantly in recent years: New ideas and concepts are being tested and, in general, there is a moderate level of optimism regarding the possibility of designing fusion reactors based on linear systems even for advanced fuels.

These proceedings will be of interest to: Graduate students, postdocs, and researchers working in the following areas: magnetic confinement of plasma (especially in open configurations), plasma heating, plasma-material interaction, plasma diagnostics, and neutron sources.
