Title information

Summary of this volume: The 30th International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics (RGD) was the most recent installment of the biennial Symposium that began in 1958 in Nice, France. The Symposium is multidisciplinary, encompassing the areas of atomic and molecular physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. Its foundations trace back to the fathers of statistical mechanics, Ludwig Boltzmann and James Clerk Maxwell, who opened a new path and established a link between the microscopic and macroscopic worlds. Modern RGD is a fully mature discipline with many applications to high altitude and hypersonic flight, shock wave phenomena, plasma physics, microfluidics, granular gas flows, gas-surface interactions, and vacuum physics.

These proceedings will be of interest to: Ph.D.'s, postdocs, and graduate students in the fields of mechanical, aerospace, computer engineering, and computer science as well as chemists and physicists dealing with low pressure or microscale flow phenomena.
