Summary of this volume: The 5th International Conference on Nuclei and Mesoscopic Physics continued a series of events that began in 2004. The main goal of this series was to bring together scientists studying the objects of mesoscopic nature, which reveal generic features and allow for similar approaches. Presentations at the conference were given by experts in various branches of mesoscopic physics and included topics such as structure of mesoscopic systems (intermediate between micro and macro worlds, for example, complex nuclei, atoms and molecules, small condensed matter devices on micro- and nano-scale, artificial systems like atomic traps or atomic clusters, spin chains, future quantum computers); reactions with such systems including nuclear reactions with exotic nuclei; quantum chaos in such systems; onset of thermal equilibrium due to internal interactions; superfluidity, superconductivity, and magnetic phenomena; phase transitions.
