Volume 2109: Women in Physics
By Geraldine Cochran, Chandralekha Singh and Nicola Wilkin
Volume 2109 is the proceedings of 6th IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics (16–20 July 2017, Birmingham, UK)
Title information
The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) has recognized a particular need to foster the participation of women in physics. In response to this need, since 2002, IUPAP Working Group 5 has organized the triennial IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics, which over the course of its existence has both documented and fostered change in the physics community. This unique conference series brings together delegates from around the world to showcase and celebrate scientific work in all areas of physics, to develop resolutions to address gender issues and promote the participation of women in physics, and to provide networking opportunities to build a strong, diverse, and inclusive worldwide physics community. The conference is unusual in that it relies on contributions by Country Teams of limited size, which are selected by the physical societies in each country. As a result, developing countries and island states are given a major voice.
These proceedings will be of interest to: Women physicists at all levels from all countries, physicists who teach (university), teachers of physics (secondary school), teachers in physics education programs, educators and communicators working in STEM outreach.
