The 63rd DAE Solid State Physics Symposium (DAE-SSPS 2018) was held at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUS&T), Hisar, Haryana during December 18-22, 2018. The symposium was sponsored by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, and organized by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. The scientific deliberations at the symposium had covered a wide range of topics in condensed matter physics including Phase transitions, Soft condensed matter including biological systems, Nano-materials, Experimental techniques and devices, Glasses and amorphous systems, Surfaces, interfaces and thin films, Electronic structures and phonons, Single crystals growth and characterization, Transport properties, Semiconductor physics, Magnetism, superconductivity and spintronics, and Energy materials. There were 8 thematic seminars on (i) Physics Using Neutron and Synchrotron (ii) Chemical Physics (iii) Nano-structured Materials (iv) Experimental Techniques (v) Soft Matter (vi) Semiconductor Physics (vii) Superconductivity (viii) Quantum Magnetism.
