Summary of this volume: The conference Modern Treatment of Symmetries, Differential Equations and Applications (Symmetry 2019) was the first of several conferences held in the year 2019 to mark the 100th birthday of the well-known Russian mathematician and academician Lev Vasilievich Ovsiannikov. The conference brought together leading experts and researchers in the field of group analysis of differential equations, a research area to which Academician Ovsiannikov greatly contributed during his long career. These proceedings contain a range of papers presented at the conference, with particular emphasis on symmetries of differential and equations with nonlocal terms, on integration methods of systems of equations, on relations between symmetries and conservation laws, and on applications of group analysis to newly formulated mathematical models and nonlinear problems.
