Summary of this volume: The 8th International Conference and Workshop on Basic and Applied Science (ICOWOBAS) 2021 was organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Salahaddin University-Erbil, and Tishk International University Iraq. The theme of 8th ICOWOBAS is Development of Fundamental Science and Technology in the New Normal Era: Its implementation towards Sustainable Development Goals." The scope of this conference includes fundamental science and applied science. The current situation with COVID-19 is a clear indicator that countries need to strengthen their actions to accomplish the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which a goal of this conference is to accelerate.
