Summary of this volume: The conference for Physics of Sustainable Energy IV was aimed at researchers, faculty, students, and private- and public-sector professionals active in energy affairs. The primary goal was to provide an intensive overview and facilitate discussion of the opportunities and obstacles facing sustainable production and use of energy in the United States. There were eight sessions, which touched on the general U.S. energy landscape; energy efficiency programs; status and prospects for solar, wind, and nuclear power; economic modeling and analysis; battery, thermal, and hydrogen storage; issues in large-scale power distribution; commercialization; and present national policy issues.
