Summary of this volume: The frontiers of mathematical theory, embedded in its applications to various disciplines, are the core areas of FIAM-2018 deliberations. The conference was conceived to bring together engineers, scientists, and researchers to share and exchange research findings, including theoretical results, novel mathematical models, and work in progress in the areas of industrial and applied mathematics. Many areas related to applied mathematics, such as computational and theoretical fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, computer vision and image processing, numerical analysis, optimization, control theory, probability and statistics, etc., with applications/uses in industrial and real-life problems to address real world complexities are explored in this conference. This book is a collection of carefully selected works that have been rigorously reviewed by the domain experts. We hope that the book can become a valuable source of information on current research trends and popular areas of application.
These proceedings will be of interest to: Researchers from mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering and mathematics, especially in the areas of computational and theoretical fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, computer vision and image processing, numerical analysis, optimization and operations research, neural networks, control and systems theory, probability, and statistics. This book will be beneficial to all postgraduate students who are interested in the real applications of mathematics.
