Title information

Summary of this volume: The International Conference on Emerging Technologies: Micro to Nano (ETMN 2017) was organized for the third time, at Solapur University, Solapur, Oct 6-7, 2017. The conference is held jointly by Solapur University, Solapur; Manipal University, Jaipur; and CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani. The first ETMN was held in 2013 at BITS Pilani Goa Campus, followed by the second ETMN at Manipal University, Jaipur in 2015. The proceedings of accepted research articles of ETMN 2015 were published in the AIP conference series. The Technology Leadership Award was instituted during ETMN 2015 and remains a regular event. ETMN is considered a technology conference in India, providing a platform for indirect mapping of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) in R&D and academic institutions for entrepreneurs and industries. The salient features of the conference have been active participation by young researchers/technologists around the world, bringing distant and emerging Institutions into the mainstream for improved visibility within country and abroad, and providing an opportunity for vendors and industries to interact with young R&D professionals in addition to sharing individual capabilities of high-end innovations through oral and poster presentations. In order to provide more weight to entrepreneurs and industries, a new chair of Vendors and Industry was added in the organizing committee of ETMN 2017. ETMN 2017 was introduced by eminent industrial scientist and Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram. During his talk, he emphasized the emerging interdisciplinary nature of research and development in all areas of science and mathematics. The organizing committee invited four keynote speakers and over a dozen domain experts to deliver talks. The keynote speakers covered various conference topics. Professor Igor Platonov (SNRU Samara, Russia) talked on Micro and Nanotechnologies in Chromatographic Analysis, Professor Toshiyuki Tsuchiya (Kyoto University, Japan) on MEMS Fabricated Large-Area Nanogap for Future Energy Devices, Professor Ahmed Lakhssassi (Université du Québec en Outaouais, Canada) on Challenges and Methodology for Controlling Thermal Doses During Cancer Therapeutic Treatment, and Professor Golap Kalita (Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan) on Chemical Vapor Deposition of Two Dimensional Materials for Next-Generation Electronic Devices. Dr V.C. Sahni, Ex-Director of RRCAT Indore, was awarded the Technology Leadership honor for boosting technology in the country.

These proceedings will be of interest to: Scientists, engineers, technologists, and Ph.D. students engaged in R&D of material-driven electronics technology.
