Summary of this volume: The 5th International Conference on Biological Science (ICBS 2017) continued the biennial tradition of international scientific dialogues on biodiversity that began in 2009. These proceedings cover eight topics: evolution and systematics, ecology and bioconservation, structural and functional biology, biomedical and natural bioactive products, bioinformatics and computational biology, molecular biology and biotechnology, bionanotechnology and biomaterial, and system and synthetic biology and bioengineering. There were over 170 presenters from around the world, which demonstrates the popularity of the ICBS for sharing ideas and findings with a truly international community.
