Volume 2017 is the proceedings of 13th International Conference EM’18 (Electromachining) (9–11 May 2018, Bydgoszcz, Poland)

Title information

Summary of this volume: The International Electromachining Conference (EM), organized periodically, - EM'18 - is its thirteenth edition. Continuous technical improvement creates a need to seek, among others, new and more efficient manufacturing techniques. In many cases, the use of mathematical modeling of physical phenomena occurring in the processing zone and the use of computer techniques allows to assist, e.g., the design and construction of technological machines and tools. The use of mathematical modeling for a technology based on concentrated energy beam is a good example. Erosion, jet, implosion and a large group of hybrid machining processes - combining the positive features of the others - also represent examples of the same approach. At the present stage of development of aforementioned machining, the knowledge gathered about them is still unsatisfactory and therefore underlines the desirability of cyclically organized conferences under the general name EM (Electromachining). This kind of conference provides a large forum where experts from scientific and industry centers, who primarily deal with energy-focused machining and other production techniques recognized today as unconventional, can share their achievements, observations and challenges. It has to be stressed that scientific meetings such as the ones mentioned above facilitate innovative advances in mathematical modeling and design of special machine tools and unconventional machining technologies.

The subject of the EM18 conference concerned:

- structural conditioning of erosive machining,
- modeling and simulation of erosive machining,
- experimental studies of erosive machining,
- rapid prototyping,
- microtechnology and nanotechnology.

The conference showed great interest in the research on Electro Discharge Machining, Electrochemical Machining and growing importance of Additive Manufacturing.

These proceedings will be of interest to: Scientific and technical research workers.
