Summary of this volume: This conference was inspired by the fusion of the mechanics and the materials science fields from modeling viewpoints to yield new methodologies and simulation-based engineering. The goal was to overcome spatial and temporal scale limitations by tackling materials complexities, synergizing modeling and experiments, strengthening multidisciplinary approaches, and broadening the applications of MMM. This meeting concentrated on the wisdom of materials and computational mechanics scientists, mathematicians and technologists. NCMMM-2020 brought together cutting-edge studies in all aspects of material theories, mathematics, modeling, simulation, and design, not only for developing fundamental MMM concepts, but also for tackling more complex and multi-physics problems in real-life scenarios.
