Volume 3040: Women in Physics
Title information
Summary of this volume: The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) has recognized a particular need to foster the participation of women in physics. In response to this need, since 2002, IUPAP Working Group 5 has organized the triennial IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics, which over the course of its existence has both documented and fostered change in the physics community. This unique conference series brings together delegates from around the world to showcase and celebrate scientific work in all areas of physics; to develop resolutions to address gender issues and promote the participation of women in physics; and to provide networking opportunities to build a strong, diverse, and inclusive worldwide physics community. The conference is unusual in that it relies on contributions by Country Teams of limited size, which are selected by the physical societies in each country. As a result, developing countries and island states are given a major voice. Plenaries and workshops address topics around gender and physics. Poster sessions cover the status of women in physics in the participating countries, research on women in physics, and original physics research by participants.
These proceedings will be of interest to: Women physicists at all levels from all countries, physicists who teach (university), teachers of physics (secondary school), teachers in physics education programs, and educators and communicators working in STEM outreach.
