Summary of this volume: The Mexican Symposium on Medical Physics (MSMP) is the official meeting of the Medical Physics Division of the Mexican Physical Society (SMF). Since its beginning in 1997, the Symposium has been held every 2 years, on this occasion in collaboration with the University of Guanajuato. The MSMP focuses on being a space for academic and professional debate on new approaches in Medical Physics, including the most innovative modalities in various fields such as radiotherapy, tomography, ultrasound, medical images, computational modeling and simulation, bioinstrumentation, biomagnetism, and fields related, with prominent speakers on various topics of interest to the medical physics community in Mexico and the Latin American region. The event was also a space for discussion on the role and challenges of the medical physicist in the hospitals of our countries. The proceedings provide an overview of the state of research done in academic and clinical institutions in Mexico and countries throughout the Americas, as well as current educational and professional issues related to the field.
